Global Church Week to Gather 1,000 Congregations in Sweden

|PIC1|STOCKHOLM, Sweden - For the fourth year in a row, churches, organisations and fellowships in Sweden will gather together in a Global Church Week.

The focus of the gathering has been set to promote justice worldwide.

The gathering will take place for seven days from 19-26 November, and has been arranged by the Christian Council of Sweden.

Previously the past events have gathered around 1,000 congregations to participate in the occasion; something that organisers wish to improve on further this year.

The event will operate under the title “Side by side”, meaning that we are all standing side by side in this world and we are all responsible and dependant on one another. |AD|

“We want the attendants that attend the services, through the activities, to be able to taste a new perspective on how we can eradicate poverty and hunger. Not only this, but also bring a theological reflection on why churches should work with justice,” stated Carl-Johan Friman, the Christian Council of Sweden information coordinator.

The whole event is being worked in cooperation with Caritas, Diakonia, Life & Peace Institute, Church of Sweden Aid, PMU InterLife, Network of Justice SPEAK, and Student gathering Bilda, Sensus Student Gathering and the Swedish Mission Council.
