DRM-free games released on GOG.com

GOG.com continues to provide gamers with DRM-free titles, and has added five new titles on its list.

In partnership with developers Deep Silver and Nordic Games, GOG.com has added five new titles from said developers in its list of games free from DRM or digital rights management. This means that the games are now free from restrictions of DRM copyrights and controls.

The new games list is topped by both "Darksiders" instalments, a first for the games. "Darksiders 1" and "Darksiders 2" are adventure games that are inspired by the "Legend of Zelda" franchise. In the games, players take on as two Horsemen of the Apocalypse: War in the original title, and Death in the second installment.

Aside from the two "Darksiders" games, the second and third in the "Saints Row" series are also now available on GOG.com. The "Saints Row" series is also an adventure game that delves into the crime and gang communities of make-believe cities, much like a combination of the "GTA" franchise and the old "The Godfather" games.

Lastly, GOG.com will also be offering "Metro: Last Light Redux." Originally released in 2013, this 2014 remastered title is a re-release of a first-person shooter set in a ravaged, post-apocalyptic Moscow.

To celebrate the release of the new titles, GOG.com is also offering sales discounts for buyers of the five titles, with price cuts ranging from 50 percent to almost 75 percent off the original price.

In a statement, GOG.com's vice president of business development Oleg Klapovsky said, "It's not every day that we see major games like these, unchained from any forms of DRM."

He added, "With today's big-name DRM-free releases, and the impending 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' premiere, we anticipate even more major titles to follow suit."

The upcoming "Witcher" title will also come to GOG.com, as the site is owned by the game's developer, CD Projekt Red.
