Is Stephen Curry really headed to Manila? Was the report authentic or fake?

Apparently this is the case right now after the Philippine Daily Inquirer posted a story on June 6, 2105 titled: 'NBA MVP Stephen Curry to visit Manila in September'. The link was shared on Facebook but will now return a 404 page.

It has yet to be known why the post (authored by Jong Arcano) was taken down, raising some questions on the validity of the report.

Another site (Gulf Daily News) was able to pick up some of the contents of the article though.

According to the said article, Curry is set to invade Manila alongside Kevin Plank, the founder of Under Armour, the only Asian country that Curry will be visiting due to the growing popularity of the sport.

In the same article, Curry will be part of a series of clinics and visit select places while he is there as Plank meets with business partners to discuss plans for Under Armour.

Another reason for the visit is said to be because of Plank's wife DJ Guerzon who is a Fil-American.

Curry is one of the top endorsers of Under Armour. Aside from him, other endorsers include Tom Brady (NFL), Michael Phelps (Swimming), Lindsey Vohn (Ice Skating), Jordan Spieth (Golf) and Freddie Roach.

With the removal of the article, there is now doubt on whether Curry will indeed be headed to Manila. Either that or the news bit shouldn't have been published this early as Curry is currently tied up in the 2014-15 NBA Finals.

Curry and the Warriors currently hold a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals against the Lebron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers. Game 2 is set tomorrow at the Oracle Arena with the Cavs now severely handicapped with Kyrie Irving ruled out for the rest of the series.
