Golden State Warriors trade rumors 2016: Would Kevin Durant help or hurt the Dubs?

The Golden State Warriors are already rolling this season, but it seems that the team is not going to back down from considering top names after this season.

No name is perhaps bigger this coming summer than Kevin Durant, the one-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) and star forward of the Oklahoma City Thunder. He is expected to have a pretty busy offseason as teams try to outdo each other in an effort to lure in the scoring forward.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to Durant and so have the Miami Heat. The two teams are desperately seeking a new player to help their fortunes, although it remains to be seen if they will succeed.

One thing Durant is looking for is a National Basketball Association (NBA) title. With the Lakers, it could take some time, while the Heat could encounter serious chemistry problems that could hinder that from happening.

How about the Golden State Warriors?

The best bet to win an NBA title would be the defending champions. Already powerful as they are at the moment, the only concern could probably be the chemistry issue. Durant seems to fit in perfectly, including a soft touch from the outside which has become a trademark for the Dubs.

The Warriors satisfy one of the things that Durant is looking for — an NBA title. What about the financial angle?

Looking at the Warriors right now, that could be a hefty price to pay (think luxury tax). Would that be a fair price to pay to reign in the NBA? It could be for a couple of years, but one thing Durant will likely look for as well is security.

Even tough Durant is only 27 years old, the fact remains that he wants to be secured for the next three to five years, depending on what contract he lands.

If the Warriors pursue Durant, expect some casualties to ease the burden. Andre Iguodala, Harrison Barnes, and Andre Bogut could be given the pink slip if Golden State is to make ample room for the veteran All-Star forward.
