An inter-conference collision takes place today when the defending National Basketball Association (NBA) champions, Golden State Warriors, head to the Motor City to take on the Detroit Pistons.

The Warriors are looking to establish another winning streak and are coming off a 116–98 home victory over the Los Angeles Lakers last Thursday, spoiling Kobe Bryant's last game in Oakland.

Reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Stephen Curry shone the brightest over the Lakers, scoring 26 points and also tallying six rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

Curry wowed the crowd in the third quarter when 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala threw a pass to him and he finished the fast break with a one-handed slam, something not often seen.

The reserves came to the aid of Curry in the win as three players from the second unit scored in double-digits.

Guard Shaun Livingston led the bench with 17 points, followed by guard Leandro Barbosa and forward Harrison Barnes who chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Thursday's win at the Oracle Arena improved the Dubs' record to an NBA and Western Conference-leading 37–3.

The game versus Detroit will be the first game of a three-game Eastern Conference road trip for the Warriors.

Meanwhile, the Pistons go to today's matchup with the champs hoping to end a two-game losing slump, with the game being the first of a back-to-back home stand at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Detroit's recent setback was a tough 103–101 defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies on the road last Thursday.

It was a tie game at 101–101 in the closing moments of the fourth quarter, until Grizzlies point guard Mario Chalmers hit a game-winner.

Rookie forward Stanley Johnson led the Pistons with 19 points, three rebounds, and two steals coming off the bench.

Veteran forward Ersan Ilyasova followed with 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Pistons star center Andre Drummond listed a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds in a losing effort.

The Pistons, who had a great start to the season, are still seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 21–18 record.

The game between the Warriors and Pistons will be held today, Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m. EST. To watch via live stream, click here
