Mina Starsiak, who is one of the stars and hosts of the HGTV show "Good Bones," recently revealed that she took the initiative to take care of her sister's two-year-old daughter after Starsiak's sister went through a period of struggling in her personal life. The experience of taking care of a child shifted Starsiak's perspective in terms of being a mother, expressing how fulfilling her time with the baby was.

According to People, Starsiak and her husband Stephen Hawk decided to take care of their niece, whose name is Julie, back in August. The duration of baby Julie's stay with Starsiak lasted for a few months, up until her sister Jessica got through her unspecified personal issues. The experience allowed Starsiak and Hawk to get a taste of what it is like to be parents, something that Hawk has wanted ever since he married Mina in June 2016.

In total, the couple cared for Julie for about nine months.

Starsiak stated that having children changes one's perspective in life, admitting that she can be somewhat cold at times. However, after taking care of her niece for a few months, she realized that she now comes off as a more likable person to others. The reality TV star further explained that her previous demeanor is something that she could not employ on her niece, claiming that children bring out something else in people which inevitably makes them better individuals.

Starsiak's Instagram page even contains pictures of her niece. From an onlooker's perspective, she, her husband, and Julie look like one happy family. Starsiak admitted that she has deliberately postponed getting pregnant for as long as she could. As of now, it seems that she is seriously considering having a baby with her husband — and her relatives and close personal friends agree that she is definitely ready to be a mother.

"Good Bones" airs every Tuesday at 10 p.m. EST on HGTV.
