Happiness has always been elusive for Cary and while he has all the right to enjoy it, the struggles he was in (involving his career and love life) has impeded him from doing so. But in "The Good Wife" season 7, he will start to treat himself with the fruits of his hard work and with that, he will be a bit more relaxed.

In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Robert King recognized that, saying, "Throughout his six years on the show, he has always been the person struggling the most to maintain his career."

But those days will be over soon. In the new season, King promised that Cary will be "in the most secure position ever." He enumerated Cary's successes, including being a significant part of the third largest firm in Chicago. At the age of 34, he is the youngest person among his team members "by a decade or two." The EP, however, quickly warned that these achievements will cause "a very big strain for him" and fans will see this unfold in season 7.

King explained that Cary isn't used to relaxing. All these years, he never rested or let his guard down. He's done this for so long that he doesn't know how to give himself a break and how that feels. The other thing, according to King, is that "he finds himself drawn to the [younger] associates. He's caught between the people over him and beneath him."

Where this will take him remains to be seen. The new season may have something in store for Cary in terms of career success. He may even get another chance at love. He is still reeling from the departure of Kalinda, who he has gotten close to and comfortable with.

Surely, when "The Good Wife" season 7 airs starting on Oct. 7, fans will see the character played by Matt Czuchry stepping up and enjoying a bigger spotlight.
