Google Glass 2.0, the head-mounted wearable computer being developed by American multinational technology company Google, might be making its way to the marketplace sooner rather than later.

News that Google Glass 2.0 is now in the works began with a report saying the search engine giant has already filed for the device at the Federal Communications Commission, which has approved it. 

According to Zee News, Google  called the device for the eye "GG1."

Interestingly, no further details were included in Google's filing. In most cases, filings with the FCC are required to specify exactly what type of device is being filed, but Google reportedly requested and was granted confidentiality for its transaction.

Some specifics have been reported about the device. It reportedly has an unchangeable battery and will possess Wi-Fi capabilities, according to Business Insider. In addition, the device will reportedly be found on a rectangular glass display, lending further credibility to the notion that the filing is indeed for Google Glass. The filing also suggests that the device will be found on a submenu that will ask users to scroll from left to right, a feature strikingly similar to the model of the previously available Google Glass.

Unfortunately, that is the extent of currently known details regarding the device. The FCC is tasked with testing electronics gadgets designed for human interaction, and this raises suspicions that Google's recent filing is indeed for Google Glass.

The original Google Glass was pulled from the markets in January, leading many to believe that the project had been ended or at least put off for the foreseeable future.

Later reports suggested that Google was planning to launch a new model, though no specific date was indicated. The search engine giant has also reportedly begun hiring several new workers to help complete a new line of projects similar to the original Google Glass.
