Google Nexus 2016 release date rumors: Pricing for Marlin and Sailfish suggest US$499 starting price

Google is said to be offering two Nexus smartphones for its 2016 lineup, rumored to be Marlin and Sailfish. Latest information for the upcoming devices suggests that it may have a US$499 starting price tag.

Nexus Blog were able to fish out pricing information from their internal sources, though, it will only be for one variant of Marlin and Sailfish. The 32 GB model of Marlin is speculated to be priced at US$599, while the same storage capacity of Sailfish will have a US$499 price tag.

No solid information is available with the internal storage variation of these devices, but it is strongly speculated to offer a bigger capacity option of at least 64 GB. The publication also stated that the Google Nexus 2016 might be unveiled by October and with the price mentioned, could bring in a good sales record for the companies involved. It is believed that HTC are manufacturing both phones.

It is also speculated that the two phones will have an identical internal components, mainly, a Qualcomm Snadragon 821 and paired with 4 GB of RAM. It was previously rumored not to offer a 64 GB variant, making it 32 GB and 128 GB variants, with no option to expand it. Previous models of Nexus devices do not offer a microSD slot.

Additionally, the phones is also rumored to contain 12 MP main and 8 MP secondary cameras will also come with it, as well as fingerprint scanner, USB-Type C port for fast charging and rear-facing bottom speakers, which is similar to last year's model.

Marlin is said to be the bigger model, offering a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution and a 3,450 mAh battery. Sailfish, will offer a 5-inch AMOLED screen with 1920 x 1080p FHD resolution and 2,770 mAh battery. The former is rumored to arrive with a metal unibody, while the latter will arrive with plastic.

More news is expected for the upcoming phones as its expected launch time draws near.
