Google officially announced the much-anticipated Google Nexus 6, and the device is surprisingly available in more sources and is more expensive compared to its predecessor.

The handset is Google's entry to the phablet category and some of its key features are: 5.96-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution and a pixel density of 493 ppi; Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC with a quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 GPU; Adreno 420 GPU; 3 GB of RAM; 32 GB/64 GB internal storage variants; 13-MP rear camera; and 3,220 mAh battery.

The official pre-order date of the device is set on Oct. 29. However, the tech giant has not confirmed yet the shipping dates, but many speculate that the handset will be delivered in November. Below are the places where one can buy the new Google Nexus 6.

Google Play Store

The first place to check out is the Google Play Store. The new Google smartphone costs $649.99 off-contract for the 32-GB model, while the 64-GB variant will be sold starting at $699.99. The price is a big jump from the previous $349.99 price tag of the LG Nexus 5 handset. However, considering all of the specs and features included in the smartphone as well as being Google's first handset to enter the "phablet" category, the new price seems reasonable.

One of the common problems with buying from the Play Store is that, it is not available in some countries. Also, supplies are easily exhausted, so devices tend to sell out fast.

U.S. Carriers

This is the first time that a Google smartphone is going to be released via carriers. As if to answer some of the requests of some consumers, Google finally reached out to U.S. networks to offer the new Google Nexus 6. All major carriers such as Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, and US Cellular have announced that they will sell Nexus 6 by the end of this year.

One of the advantages of buying from a carrier is one does not have to pay an expensive upfront price to get the device. According to some reports, the Nexus 6 handset was spotted in AT&T and the device was reportedly available for $50 with a two-year contract. Carriers can lower the price since it divides the payment for the smartphone and charges it on top of the consumer's monthly bill.

Retailers

Lastly, Google Nexus 6 will hit the shelves of retailers soon. Buyers can expect the device to be available in electronics shops after the pre-orders.
