Google Nexus 6 owners can now flaunt their devices. It now contains the latest Android operating system, the Nougat. In a matter of months, the smartphone device would also receive the 7.1 update.

Nexus 6 device owners were initially upset when Android Nougat was publicly released, and their devices were not included in the initial batch that received it. It took more than a month before they were able to have their over-the-air (OTA) package ready.

Google did not elaborate on the cause of the delay, but it was rumored that it had something to do with the battery consumption. It was observed that the new OS consumes too much battery charge on the old device.

Nexus 6 owners can now enjoy the numerous new features of Android Nougat. This includes the split screen mode, which lets the device's owner view two applications side-by-side. This is very helpful when comparing notes or when performing a copy and paste operation.

Users can also instantly shift between two of the most recent apps used. A double tap on the overview button is all it takes to switch apps. Nexus 6 owners can now reply to messages directly from the notification window. There is no need to go directly to the messaging app. Actions such as delete, share, and archive can also be performed from the notification screen.

It was also announced that by December, the Android 7.1 Nougat will roll out to the Nexus 6, 5X, 6P, 9, Player, Pixel C, and supported Android One devices. The beta version will roll out before October ends.

Google Nexus 6 was released in November 2014 and was manufactured by Motorola. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 805 chip paired with a 3 GB RAM and contains either 32 or 64 GB of internal storage. It also came with a 13 MP main lens and a 2 MP secondary camera. It originally ran on Android 5. 0 Lollipop. The Android Nougat will be the last mobile operating system that will officially support the phone since Google only gives two-year support for its devices.
