Staying true to their word, Google opened its pre-orders for the Nexus 6 yesterday, and the device sold like hotcakes. Reports claim that the smartphone was sold out within minutes.

When the pre-orders opened, U.S. consumers finally had the chance to purchase the new Nexus handset, but while some were lucky enough to have been able to place their orders, others were not as fortunate.  The supply in the Google Play Store reportedly did not even last for 5 minutes due to the excellent reception of people to the device. Both the 32 GB and 64 GB variants were said to have gone out of stock in a matter of minutes.

"We are out of inventory. Please check back soon," reads the advisory in the Google Play Store.

A lot of U.S. consumers wish that Google will replenish the supply of the Nexus 6 smartphone soon, but there is no word yet from Google as to when the company will replenish the stocks of the device. 

Meanwhile, buyers who were able to place their orders at the Play Store were advised that the device will be shipped in three to four weeks. Some users may receive their order as late as Nov. 21.

Consumers may also try the networks as the Google Nexus 6 will reportedly be available through major U.S. carriers – Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and AT&T. Estimated delivery of the device is in early November. However, aside from T-Mobile, other carriers have not yet disclosed their payment plans for the new Nexus handset.

The new Google Nexus 6 boasts a 5.9-inch screen panel with Quad HD pixel resolution, and 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM. The handset runs the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. The smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter as well as 3220 mAh battery.

The Google Play Store sells the 32 GB Nexus 6 for $649, and attached to the 64 GB variant is a $699 price tag.
