While fans are focusing on the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL flagships, Google may be readying another iteration that will introduce another novel feature.

In an exclusive from 9to5Google, it is revealed that the rumored new Google tablet may be introduced as part of another lineup, rather than a Nexus 7 refresh. Allegedly, instead of it being a pure Android tablet, the upcoming slate will be part of a new series that will use the upcoming Andromeda OS. The hybrid platform is a combination of Android and Chrome platforms.

Should this happen, it is likely that the new Google tablet will not be a follow-up to the successful Nexus 7 series. The Nexus lineup is popular since it uses pure, stock Android versions, free from bloatware and most third-party proprietary apps. In addition, having a hybrid platform that uses Chrome OS-like features will make the tablet more of a hybrid laptop, making it closer to being a 2-in-1 device rather than a pure tablet iteration like the Nexus 7.

Meanwhile, even if it is already revealed that Google will come out with another slate iteration, it remains to be seen when fans can expect the release. According to perennial tipster Evan Blass, the new 7.0-inch slate will be co-produced by Huawei and will more likely roll out towards the end of the year. With the supposed "leak," the new slate is likely to launch by November or early December, given that Google is currently focusing on the Oct. 4 release of the Pixel and Pixel XL flagship smartphones.

However, even if the specs and features for the device are still under wraps, it is fairly certain that the new slate will be a flagship device. Aside from carrying the new Andromeda OS, it is also "leaked" that the Huawei-built slate will come out with at least 4 GB of RAM.
