Those who are waiting for Nexus 7 to be unveiled by Google during the company's upcoming event on Tuesday may be in for a big disappointment since reports claimed that the highly anticipated device will come with a new name.

According to reports, the 7-inch tablet device will be rebranded as the Pixel 7. The device is expected to be unveiled together with the upcoming Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

While Google has yet to make a statement about the rumored 2016 edition of the Nexus 7 tablet, consistent tipster Evan Blass revealed via Twitter that the tablet, which is manufactured by Chinese tech firm Huawei, is currently under development. The tablet will be equipped with 4 GB of RAM, and the device will be shipped in the market before the end of the year.

Other reports claimed that the tablet will run with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820 processor, although there are no details yet regarding the actual built-in capacity of the device at the moment.

The original Google Nexus 7 was first released in July 2012. It features a Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset with a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and a ULO GeForce GPU. The device was equipped with a 1.2-megapixel primary camera and the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system upon release.

The second-generation Google Nexus 7 came out in July 2013. It has an improved chipset as it featured Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4Pro. It also has a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and an Adreno 320 GPU. Its camera features also improved as the second release of the Nexus 7 came out with a 5-megapixel primary camera, and it also had a secondary front-facing camera with 1.2-megapixels. The 2013 Nexus 7 was also equipped with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, but it can be upgraded to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Google has yet to reveal more details about the rumored Nexus 7 release.
