Following Google's announcement to discontinue their Chromebook Pixel last year, the search engine giant recently unveiled a new and powerful laptop by the name of Pixelbook. It is regarded as the top-tier Chromebook Pixel edition, boasting impressive hardware specs and a heavier price tag compared to the previous Chrome OS laptops.

As reported by Engadget, the Google Pixelbook made an appearance at the company's keynote event last Oct. 4, alongside the latest Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. The Pixelbook is different compared to the last Chromebook laptop released by Google, mainly due to its 2-in-1 design. While the past Chromebook Pixel mdoels are known for their high-end touchscreen displays, the Pixelbook can be folded around to function as a tablet.

The Google Pixelbook is introduced as the thinnest laptop that the buyers can find in the market today. According to The Verge, the over-all frame thickness of the Pixelbook is only 10 millimeters. Not only that the laptop is slim, as the Pixelbook only weighs 1 kilogram, or 2.2 pounds.

As for the display feature, the Google PIxelbook sports a 12.3-inch Quad HD screen display with 1,440p resolution. There are two variants of the Pixelbook available in terms of processor, namely the Intel Core i5 and i7. Likewise, there are different variants available according to RAM capacity and internal storage. The Pixelbook can include up to 16GB RAM, and storage capacity up to 512GB.

The Google Pixelbook highlights the arrival of Google Assistant in the Chromebook laptop for the first time as the voice support. Google Assistant can be called through the use of voice commands or by typing. The Pixelbook also has the ability to automatically tether the laptop with a nearby Android handset when a Wi-Fi network is not detected. The laptop boasts longer battery life, which can stay up to 10 hours after being fully charged. The Pixelbook can be charged quickly with two hours of battery life replenished within 15 minutes, thanks to its USB-C support.

CNET reported that the pre-order price of Google Pixelbook laptop is already up in the U.K. market. The base Pixelbook variant with 128GB storage costs £999, while the 256GB storage option costs £1,199. The largest storage variant, 512GB, can be purchased for £1,699. The 128GB and 256GB Pixelbooks will hit shelves by the end of October, while the 512GB storage option will arrive in early December. Those who are interested to get the Pixelbook Pen can purchase it separately for £99.
