Google has officially launched the Google Play Family Plan, which allows users to stream music onto their devices, akin to Apple Music and Spotify. As posted on the official Android Blog, this subscription will cost $14.99 per month but has the advandtage over other subscriptions because it is far more flexible.

For the price of subscription, up to six different accounts can be made. Every member will be able to enjoy access to over 35 million songs without the intrusion of advertisements. Each member will also be allowed to create their own favorites, have their own history cache, song favorites and others.

The history and songlists of another member in the subscription will not affect the other. More importantly, all six users will be able to listen to their music on their own device simultaneously.

By these features the Google Play Family Plan is on par with what Apple Music has to offer. Other music subscriptions such as Spotify only allow up to two individuals per account.

However, because Google is also in partnership with the video-streaming site YouTube, the Family Plan has one more added benefit. Subscribing to the $14.99 Family Plan will also grant access to Youtube Red, the branch of YouTube that is ad free. YouTube Red also allows users to "save" videos for offline watching.

Spotify, which currently charges $15 per month, seems to understand that the competition is high with all the features being offered by the Google Play Family Plan. According to a report from Android Guys, Spotify is combating this by offering premium service for three months for just $0.99 and a family plan for only $9.99.

At the moment the Google Play Family Plan is only available in the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. There are plans for the subscription to be offered in other countries as well. The plan can be availed on both Android and iOS devices.
