GoPro Hero 5 release date months after Karma drone

According to a report from Fool.com, the sales of GoPro Inc. products have begun to plummet with the lack of new products. However, all of that is set to change this year when the company releases the GoPro Hero 5, but it now seems that fans of the highly acclaimed sports camera series will have to wait until October.

According to the report, the only concrete information regarding the GoPro Hero 5's launch comes from a transcript of CEO Nick Woodman's statement during the company's fourth-quarter conference call (via Yahoo!). During this conference, Woodman stated that the GoPro Hero 5 would launch this year but failed to give a specific date.

It is reported that the estimated release date for the device is set at October this year, given that this would allow the company to launch the new camera prior to the holidays while still giving them time to fully implement the new features that will mark it as a big step above the GoPro Hero 4 series.

The GoPro Hero 5 is rumored to support 3D video capturing with its dual-lenses, video quality up to 8k resolutions, and will run on a powerful A10 processor and a 2,800-mAh battery. This will make it significantly more powerful than any GoPro Hero 4 camera, which all run on A9 processors and only utilize a measly 1,120-mAh battery.

More importantly, it appears that the GoPro Hero 5 will only launch after the company releases the GoPro Karma drone between May and June, after the company discontinues all of their older lineup of devices such as the GoPro+ LCD.

This drone won't have a camera built into it but it will be compatible with all of the GoPro Hero 4 and presumably the GoPro Hero 5 cameras. It is designed to allow sports enthusiasts to create their own fly-by, birds-eye-view videos as it handles like a miniature remote-controlled helicopter.nc.
