GoPro HERO 5 specs, release date: action camera products coming soon?

The next edition of the popular GoPro Hero action camera is expected to come out soon, but the California-based camera manufacturer has yet to make an official announcement regarding the alleged GoPro HERO 5's release date. At the moment, rumors say that it will be released in early 2016.

Also, there are speculations about the improvements that the new action cam will feature that will make it better than its predecessor, the GoPro HERO 4. This includes an 8K video recording capacity that boasts a 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution taken with the use of a faster 60 frames per second frame rate, better than the GoPro HERO 4's 30 fps.

There were also earlier reports claiming that the upcoming GoPro HERO 5 will have 3D video recording capability because it will come with a dual lens. The action camera device is also said to have a longer battery life for uninterrupted video capture.

The device will allegedly sell at around $400 to $500 when released.

But while the company is still mum about their next-generation HERO products, GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman announced during the Code Conference that they are coming up with a brand-new type of action camera that can take spherical panoramas.

The said device, which might come out later this year, will reportedly come in a hexagonal cube form with an attached peephole located on all sides. It means that the upcoming device works like six GoPro Hero cameras taking pictures all at the same time.

The upcoming spherical camera is reportedly ideal for active individuals like surfers, parachutists, skateborders, and outdoor enthusiasts so they can take impressive videos for the upcoming augmented reality technology devices like Microsoft's HoloLens, Google's Cardboard, and the Oculus Rift.

GoPro is also said to be developing their own quadrocopter drone with built-in camera for better aerial photography shots. This will reportedly come out early next year.
