While GoPro continues to keep the updates about its next action camera a secret, speculations about the GoPro Hero 5 are persistent.

New speculations claim that the still-unannounced GoPro Hero 5 will be equipped with built-in GPS. The rumor began after a leaked FCC filing surfaced. According to Engadget, the FCC entry hinted that global positioning technology will be part of the device's new features. While the filing did not reveal how the GPS can be used on GoPro Hero 5, it could be assumed that it will have something to do with geolocating or tracking the videos.

Dougherty & Co. analyst Charles Anderson talked to Value Walk to discuss the leaked FCC filing for the rumored GoPro Hero 5 Black. It is also claimed that the device will come out 16 percent thinner than the previous GoPro Hero 4 model.

Anderson said that it will be impossible for the San Mateo, CA-based tech firm to come out with a product that will feature the GPS technology.

"In terms of adding GPS, we note that GoPro officials in the past have dismissed the idea with us due to the fact that GPS created a power drain for negligible added benefit," Anderson stated. "They argued that if a user really wanted to use GPS (which could be used to measure speed, etc.), they could pair a GoPro with their smartphone and get the GPS signal there."

Other rumored features of the upcoming GoPro Hero 5 include a much larger 2,800 mAh battery pack, 4K video capability that could record 60 frames per second and waterproof capacity for a depth of up to 60m.

The price of the GoPro Hero 5 is expected to reach at least $450 to $550 in the U.S. since the GoPro Hero 4 Black is currently available for $499 and the GoPro Hero 4 Silver is priced at $399. Speculations still claim that the upcoming device could be released toward the end of 2016.
