The GoPro Karma is still a mystery despite it coming out by the holidays of this year, presumably by late November to early December. However, an investigation by Patent Yogi reveals that there is already information out there indicating what the Karma could look like and what kind of features it may have.

GoPro did launch a trailer last year to showcase the capabilities of the GoPro Karma, recording 4K video while in flight, but the trailer notably did not showcase what the Karma would look like and this was presumed to be because the company was still finalizing its design. Patent Yogi now reveals what it might look like.

The investigation has been posted on YouTube and it reveals that the Karma may be based on a previously patented drone designed by mechanical engineer Ryan Goldstein. He currently works in the Mechanical Aerial department for GoPro but it is noted that his patent was filed prior to him working for the company.

Goldstein's design showcases a drone like no other. When packed, the drone appears to be a solid rectangular box but it turns out the "wings" and propellers are all tucked into the sides and can be pulled out and locked. By keeping the arms and propellers inside, the drone is less likely to be damaged when being transported. 

It is further shown that Goldstein also made proposals for the same kind of drone but shaped as a cylinder or as a sphere. No matter which design is taken, however, the general concept of keeping all the parts within the device is retained. The drone design also showcases an interchangeable battery and an adjustable holder for the GoPro camera.

GoPro has yet to confirm if any of Goldstein's designs are similar to the final build and when the Karma is officially launching.
