Nygma is counting on Grundy in "Gotham" season 4.

It seems that killing off corrupt cops in the Gotham City Police Department was only the beginning for the terrifying Professor Pyg (Michael Cerveris). Episode 9 of "Gotham" season 4 reveals that he is taking it a step further by targeting the members of Gotham City's elite.

A new promo clip for the upcoming episode sees Professor Pyg talking to Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) on the phone. He tells the now-Captain of the GCPD that he is moving forward with the second phase of his plan to purge the city of corruption, and what better way to do that than by moving to the top tier? At least that is what he thinks. Phase two of the Pyg's plan is to eradicate Gotham's high society crowd, and it will be anything but painless.

The official synopsis for episode 9 of "Gotham" season 4 titled "Let Them Eat Pie" reveals that Professor Pyg, as previously mentioned, continues to terrorize Gotham city, involving Gordon as much as possible. The previous promos have revealed Gordon announcing to the press that he along with the rest of the GCPD are determined to take him down.

Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), on the other hand, prepare for a fundraiser event at the orphanage. However, things do not go as they planned when Professor Pyg shows up as the chef, where he serves the guests, as the name of the episode suggests, pies. Those are not just ordinary pies, however. The red band trailer for the villain revealed that he will be serving them "people pies."

Pyg's method of tormenting Gotham's elite has a very special connection to Cerveris, who portrays the villain. Cerveris is a celebrated actor on Broadway, best known for his portrayal of the titular character in the Tony-nominated "Sweeney Todd" musical. Those who have watched the film will know that Sweeney Todd is a barber who kills people and covers his tracks by using his victims as the fillings of his pies that he serves to the public.

Elsewhere, Bruce (David Mazouz) and his partying ways will end up putting a strain on his relationship with Alfred (Sean Pertwee). It is safe to say that Bruce is still going through his angst-filled time, where he acts out and parties every night. The promo for the episode revealed the two of them heading out to the woods to go camping to spend some quality time together. The promo also shows Alfred telling Bruce that he has no idea what kind of danger he is in and that he needs to confront who he really is. Bruce then says that he knows who he is.

"Gotham" season 4 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
