The bloody ending for FOX's highly popular "Gotham" series was finally aired, which means that fans can now look forward to the upcoming season of the superhero series. 

Actress Jada Pinkett Smith reprised her role as the mobster Fish Mooney in the season 1 finale of Gotham. After she managed to escape the Dollmaker (Colm Feore) who held her hostage, Mooney returned to Gotham to plot her revenge.

The actress stated that her character for the hit show is not slated to return for the second season, which means that Fish Mooney may not survive the upcoming bloodbath in the city. However, series executive producer Bruno Heller claims that at this point, he is still hoping to work out a deal to make Fish Mooney return for "Gotham" season 2.

In an interview with ComicBook, the renowned executive producer said, "Personally I'm still hoping that Jada will be back. One of the problems of making a show like this is that you need actors who can really be big characters. You either have bigness or you don't, and Jada is big in spades. She's done a wonderful job for us and nobody dies forever in the DC Universe, necessarily, so I'm hoping whatever happens at the end of this season that Fish can and will be back."

Fans would also love Pinkettt-Smith's feisty character to return to the series in season 2. 

Meanwhile, a report posted on Melty claimed that the second season of "Gotham" will begin by showcasing the original story of Batman's mortal enemy, the Joker. Joker's alter-ego named Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) was first introduced in "Gotham" season 1 episode 16 as the murderous son who killed his mother. But according to Heller, fans of the series will finally understand how Joker became who he currently is, and how he began tormenting Gotham.
