'Gotham' has so far been able to impress even with initial impressions that the whole series seemed to be another Batman spinoff. While it does portray a young Bruce Wayne who witnesses the brutal death of his parents, the real star is of course James Gordon.

Somehow, the producers were able to do a masterful job turning eventual villains like the Penguin and the Riddler into roles that one would least expect. And as each episode passes, the twists continue to be of interest.

For avid TV series fans, 'Gotham' can be likened as a mix of 'The Sopranos' and 'CSI' in a manner of speaking. It does include the usual mafia and investigative scenes that have somehow drawn the interest of viewers.

The latest is a two part episode which carries a lot of plots. The Scarecrow's father will be introduced, Dr. Gerald Crane who unveils the many terrors residing in Gotham and apparently revealing some origins of how the Scarecrow came about.

In the second installment, James Gordon will show a different side from the traditional stiff that many viewers may see him during his Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) days.

After being assigned to Arkham Asylum, James now takes on a more flexible role where he will have to live with both good and bad decisions. With a new love interest in Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Gordon can now make more calculated actions.

The episode will also show Edward Nigma (known better as the Riddler in Batman flicks) slowly turning into the villain that he is readily known for. After removing the hands of the deceased, it could signal his turn to the dark side to which Gotham finds itself shrouded in.

Other storyline are also expected like that of Fish Mooney and Oswald Cobblepot in the episodes as both continue their strive for power.

In all, Gotham has somehow successfully managed the characters and placed them into unlikely roles which can somehow be traced on how they became the villains many Batman fans know them to be. And with so many more villains to mention, expect more to come after the latest one named the Scarecrow and soon, Red Hood.
