'Gotham' season 1 finale spoilers: Fish Mooney's end is near

Fish Mooney, the most ruthless but well-loved antagonist in "Gotham" season 1, will not return in the second season of the series. Jada Pinkett-Smith, the actress who gives life to the role of Maria Mercedes "Fish" Mooney, confirmed this bit of information during her interview on "Live With Kelly and Michael."

"I don't think so, no. I signed for a year and the year is up," Will Smith's wife said. "But there are some great things coming ahead on 'Gotham,' believe you me. There's a lot of good stuff coming."

Pinkett-Smith added more information about her character in the upcoming season finale of the hit DC Comics-adapted crime drama in a separate interview with Extra

"We're done. I did my year and I had a good time. The show is going to have an awesome finale! You never know what Fish might have up her sleeve," the actress shared.

But one villain leaving the city of Gotham for good does not mean that the life of Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will become any easier. Early in February, Gotham executive producer Bruno Heller teased that Batman's mortal enemy, Joker, might be appearing in the show before the first season ends.

"We've said you're going to be waiting a bit longer for it, but this is America -- nobody wants to wait," Heller spilled. "So, we will scratch the surface of that story, yes. But just scratch it -- a little tap on the door."

However, the executive producer did not provide any information on who would portray Joker, or how his character will affect the young Bruce Wayne. But Heller did mention at the beginning of the series that viewers should be keen in observing for clues that point to the Clown Prince of Crime.

"Gotham's" season finale is expected to air on May 4.
