Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) won't stop at nothing to clean the streets of Gotham from corrupt individuals. His latest arrest made was on Theo Galavan (James Frain), all thanks to Mayor James (Richard Kind) who helped Jim secure the evidence he needed to make the arrest.

Now, the detective is set for another crime-fighting mission in the upcoming episode titled "A Bitter Pill to Swallow."

Now that Theo is under arrest, Jim will continue with the task of arresting criminals and making Gotham a safer place, and he has the forceful Capt. Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) by his side.

Based on the promo trailer, Jim will be faced with a situation that requires him to choose between crossing the line or not. Barnes was seen reminding him that "there is no line" and only the law distinguishes man from the animals.

There's just no stopping the rise of the villains in Gotham, and Jim will have to deal with more of them, as Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) has finally given in to the dark side.

During the final moments of the previous episode, titled "Tonight's the Night," while Nygma was out in the woods at night, he found Oswald (Robin Lord Taylor) in a trailer, injured from the shootout with Theo.

Nygma recognized him and called him "Mr. Penguin," and the limping Oswald asked for his help.

In episode 9's trailer, there were also cut scenes showing Nygma and Penguin working together with their victim.

Nygma and Penguin, won't be the only new problem Jim has on his plate in the upcoming episodes. TV Line confirmed that another villain is set to unleash evil in Gotham. The Knife makes a debut in episode 10 and will be portrayed by "Sons of Anarchy's" Tommy Flanagan.

The Knife is a charming hitman with a sense of humor who will offer his service to the person who pays the largest sum of money.

"Gotham" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
