The latest episode of "Gotham" season 2, which aired on Monday, showed how villains are becoming more and more successful with their sinister plots.

Oswald Cobblepot's (Robin Lord Taylor) beloved mother, who was kidnapped, ended up being murdered by Theo Galavan (James Frain) and that obviously fueled the rage within the Penguin, who then vowed he will have his revenge.

Theo was also elected as the city's new mayor, giving him the advantage of slowly putting his evil plans in motion. On the other hand, Oswald also has his other agenda of going after Theo during his victory celebration. A shootout took place but, of course, Theo and Oswald managed to escape unharmed.

With the death of his mother, it is predicted that Oswald will fall deeper into the darkness. It will be interesting to see how things will work out for the evil yet loving son.

Oswald wasn't the only one who's expected to become more evil as the show progresses. Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) has merged with his other personality and admits he loves the feeling of having to get away with murder.

Ed Nygma's dark turn into the iconic villain, The Riddler, will be one of the most anticipated arcs in the series.

Meanwhile, in the next episode, another evil is going to be set loose. In a released promo trailer (see below), Theo's secret weapon, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) is finally out and the mission is to eliminate Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie).

Barbara was caught by the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD), but Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) believe that she's simply setting a trap.

In the final clip, Jim was seen inside a church and tied to a chair and Barbara was there as well — wearing a wedding gown and holding a knife.

Jim quickly picks up a gun by his side and aims at Barbara demanding her to put down the knife. Will he be able to pull the trigger as Barbara dared him to?

A new episode of "Gotham" season 2 airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
