'Gotham' season 3 release date, spoilers: older Poison Ivy to be cast

Clare Foley to vacate her role as Ivy Pepper when 'Gotham' returns for season 3.FOX

Someone will get a major makeover in the third season of "Gotham" this fall.

TVLine revealed that the young Ivy Pepper will soon grow up to become a full-fledged villain.

In the previous seasons, Ivy Pepper was known as the shy redheaded 14-year-old orphan who was close to Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova). But according to the report, Clare Foley's character will soon grow up to become the evil Poison Ivy. This means that the young actress will have to exit the show after two seasons.

Because of this development, FOX is currently looking for a new actress in her late teens to step into Foley's vacant role. The new cast member is expected to cause more trouble for Bruce and the rest of the citizens of Gotham in the upcoming installment of the series.

Meanwhile, Cinema Blend spotted an Italian report where actor Robin Lord Taylor talked about the changes happening to his character Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin when "Gotham" returns for season 3.

In the translated interview by French site Purebreak, Taylor explained how his character begins his quest to become the world's most powerful man after spending his time in the sidelines when he was still under the power of Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith).

"He learned so much in Season 2. Now he has the means and knowledge, he knows what it is to be the king of Gotham and how difficult it is. On the death of his mother, Nygma told him, 'You're free to do whatever you want now. To love someone is to be weak, vulnerable.' Now he can be as ruthless as he wants. I think he will take that advice," the actor said.

More details about the recasting for Poison Ivy and the premiere date of "Gotham" season 3 are expected to come out in the coming days.
