Season 2 of Fox Network's "Gotham" saw the rise of the villains. And Season 3 will see the heroes fall.

Jim Gordon, played by Ben McKenzie, took quite a beating last season. Emotionally, physically, and mentally, Gordon had it pretty bad.

Comic Book Resources gives an account of McKenzie's tête-à-tête at the San Diego Comic Con. The actor reveals this about the character he portrays, "We will eventually see a Gordon who struggles at times to keep it together because of how rough Gotham is and because how few allies he really has. And the subtitle of the season, 'Heroes Will Fall,' is indicative of what thematically we're doing in the season with, not just Bruce Wayne and the other heroes, but with Gordon himself. He will fall a long, long way and have to pick himself up again."

The trailer for the new season was unveiled at the convention. Now on YouTube, the video reveals how much things have changed between the last season and this one. It begins with a recap of Season 2, and goes on to give us a sneak peek into how Gordon and a team of other officers are up against the creatures who escaped from Indian Hill. Gordon, as Ecumenical News points out, works as a bounty hunter this season.

According to Bleeding Cool, Penguin, who is portrayed by Robin Lord Taylor, becomes more violent this season. The increase in his mental chaos is attributed to loss of love. Taylor reveals that he hopes to see a more ruthless side to the character. Gordon and the Riddler also display their violent streaks in the upcoming episodes.

Season 3 of the series is all set to premiere on the Fox Network on the 19th of September this year. The season will include 11 episodes, and will come to a close during the spring of 2017.
