The action-drama television series "Gotham" returns this week for the 10th episode of its third season. In the upcoming installment titled "Things That Go Boom," Gordon (Ben McKenzie) attempts to broker a deal with Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) involving Sophia (Crystal Reed).

The episode synopsis from TV Guide also reveals that Alfred (Sean Pertwee) will be trying to pull Bruce (David Mazouz) out of his teenage-angst and downward spiral. The promo for "Things That Go Boom" shows Gordon warning Penguin about how the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) will tear him apart in a confrontation with the villain in an undisclosed location.

Based on the synopsis, the meeting could be about Gordon brokering a deal with Penguin with regards to Sophia, who had bribed Gotham City's mayor to promote Gordon as the commissioner of the GCPD. Penguin obviously did not approve of this as he and Gordon do not exactly see eye to eye, and he suspects that Sofia is maneuvering top officials to undermine him.

Aside from Gordon and Sophia, Penguin has to deal with another rival, Riddler a.k.a. Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith). Later in the trailer, Penguin is seen declaring war against Riddler, Barbara (Erin Richards), Tabitha (Jessica Lucas), Selena (Camren Bicondova), and Solomon (Butch Gilzean). It seems as though Penguin's hands are full for the rest of the season.

In the previous episode, Gordon fought Professor Pyg (guest star Michael Cerveris) in a fundraising event organized by Sofia. Gordon was seemingly going to be defeated as he faced Pyg with only his bare hands against a foe who wielded chopping knives. However, Gordon was eventually able to knock him out and bring him to justice.

In a recent interview with Collider, Cerveris revealed that his character has no plans to give up on Gordon saying Pyg firmly believes that he belongs together with the police commissioner.

"At the moment, he's not even allowing for the possibility that that could ever happen. At the moment, he's so convinced that, even though it may take longer than he had hoped, he knows that Jim Gordon is his parallel and his partner," Cerveris said. "If Jim doesn't realize it yet, the Professor is patient and knows that with time and with carnage, he'll be able to bring Jim around."

"Gotham" season 4 episode 10 will air on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
