The battle of the gangs for Gotham's underworld continues in the mid-season finale of "Gotham" season 4. A new promo for the show's 11th episode teases some heated confrontations ahead.

Episode 11 of "Gotham" season 4 is titled "Queen Takes Knight" and the official synopsis reveals that things will take a complicated turn when Don Carmine Falcone (John Doman) himself comes back in town. The previous episode made it clear that Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) was going up against Sofia (Crystal Reed) in a war for the city's criminal underbelly.

Now that Carmine himself is coming back to Gotham, will he be the one who puts a stop to this war? Or will he choose sides? Should Carmine decide to go for the latter, then Penguin will have a full-on war on his hands. Carmine might take Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) back too, leaving Penguin with hardly any allies left.

However, there is another factor that will be coming into play. The promo showed that he is gearing up to go against Captain Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the GCPD. The previous episode revealed the kind of deal Jim made with him. Jim offered to leave Penguin alone, excluding his criminal licensing system, if he let Sofia leave Gotham alive or else Jim would use the full force of the police department to tear him apart.

Obviously, Penguin did not hold up his end of the bargain, so he will have to deal with the wrath of the GCPD as well. As it was confirmed before, Penguin might find himself an ally very soon.

Meanwhile, Alfred (Sean Pertwee) attempts to get through to Bruce (David Mazouz) once and for all. Bruce has become the angst-ridden, rebellious, partying teenager as of late, so it makes sense that Alfred take another measure to get him out of this phase. The promo showed him splashing water on a very much hung-over Bruce Wayne, who happens to be in bed with a few girls. In the promo, it seems that Bruce is ready to get back to fighting crime in the streets.

However, he might not be able to do it as easily at the moment. Bruce is seen in the promo putting up the fisticuffs on Alfred, who could obviously block it. It helps to remember that Alfred trained Bruce, so he can pretty much predict what Bruce's next move is.

At the Narrows, Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) has difficulty taking control over his Riddler persona. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) revealed that nothing was wrong with him after the tests she conducted, and that it was all a psychological matter. This was where his hallucinations started again of him seeing his Riddler-self in the mirror. Could he be able to take control in the upcoming episode? It is unlikely, but he will definitely get there later on.

Tabitha (Jessica Lucas), on the other hand, tries to make Grundy (Drew Powell) remember his past. The promo did not quite play this one up, but from the previous episodes, Grundy remembered who she was and who she was to him while they were engaged in a fight. Tabitha promised that she would be back for him and the upcoming finale sees her keeping her promise.

Last, and most definitely not the least, a familiar smile resurfaces in Gotham. The return of big fan-favorite villain Jerome (Cameron Monaghan). The promo revealed his stitched-up face, shorter hair, and maniacal laugh behind what seems to be his cell at Arkham. He might not be the full-on clown prince of crime that everyone knows just yet, but it looks like he is getting there.
