Rockstar Games is adding Freemode events with the latest update they have coming out for the game.

As the name implies, the Freemode events will be available to players participating in the game's version of a completely open world environment. Basically, the Freemode events will just give players some objectives and challenges to complete as they wander around the open environment of "Grand Theft Auto Online."

A Freemode event can begin at almost any time, and the beauty of it for players is that they can customize just exactly how they want to experience it. This means that players will be able to choose between being fully immersed in Freemode events, not dealing with them at all or something in between, according to Rockstar Games.

Examples of Freemode events players can try out include Hunt the Beast, a mode where one player will be transformed into a stronger character and then be subsequently hunted down by others in the game. There will also be something known as King of the Castle, a mode in which players will be tasked with trying to conquer a designated location and then fending off the advances of other characters looking to overthrow them.

The Freemode events will be arriving on Sept. 15.

Aside from the Freemode events, the newest update for "Grand Theft Auto Online" will also be officially launching the Rockstar Editor for both the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One, according to Express UK.

The new Rockstar Editor has been revamped quite a bit, allowing players to make even more impressive videos than ones they have created before.

There is some sad news however, as "Grand Theft Auto Online" will no longer be updated for last-generation consoles. Rockstar has said that the reason they are no longer updating the game for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 is simply because those platforms cannot handle the new content anymore, Kotaku UK reported.

The good news is that Rockstar Games has also said that they will continue to support "Grand Theft Auto Online" for the last-generation consoles regardless of the lack of updates.
