'GTA 5' DLC news: 'Freemode Events' update now live

Rockstar Games Newswire

Rockstar Games keeps on expanding content for its "Grand Theft Auto" franchise through updates, patches, and expansions. For players who are currently into "Grand Theft Auto V," the good news is that the latest update, patch 1.29, that the game developer mentioned in previous posts is now live.

Dubbed as the "Freemode Events" update, the most noted feature included in the new patch is the introduction of Freemode events. Rockstar Games had mentioned this feature in passing in previous posts, and said that the new missions and events included will provide "a new way to play."

The new update brings more than a dozen new events for "Grand Theft Auto Online," the title's multiplayer mode. The events range from escape and evasion in Hunt the Beast, Hot Property, and Moving Target; racing all over Los Santos and Blaine County in Checkpoint Challenge, Dead Drop, and Penned In; and every man for himself, with the last player standing in King of the Castle, Kill List, and Kill List Competitive.

There are also objective-specific events triggered by something or someone near the players in freeroam mode. The Hold the Wheel event happens when players roam the city atop a golf cart or a Sanchez. Meanwhile, there are also scattered Time Trial challenges that change course every week.

Aside from the new Freemode events, patch 1.29 also adds the Rockstar Editor to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of "GTA V." Available for PC players previously, console players can now record, edit, and splice their favorite moments from their gameplay and upload and share it online using the embedded Rockstar Editor. "GTA Online" players who are on level 12 and above will also be able to enjoy the two newly added Adversary mode jobs — Hunting Pack and Cross the Line.

In addition to the new content, the update also addresses various gameplay glitches and has rolled out improvements in game system, interface, and design.
