Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have yet to confirm that they are indeed developing "Grand Theft Auto VI"; however, this has not stopped fans from speculating what the next main entry in the franchise might have in store for them. According to a report from Neuro Gadget, it is likely "GTA VI" will maintain the use of multiple protagonists.

"GTA V" stars three main characters: Trevor, Michael and Franklin. This was a major departure from the rest of the franchise where each previous game only focused on one character. The game allows players to seamlessly switch among the three in order to pull off complex missions and stunts.

According to the report, "Grand Theft Auto VI" may keep this mechanic as their experiment in "GTA V" has proven successful. The mechanic allowed the main single-player campaign to utilize more complex stories and varied locations to tell each narrative and it is likely Rockstar will use this system again for the next game.

There are even rumors of the next game featuring a female protagonist, although this has yet to be confirmed. Back when "GTA V" initially released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, it was mentioned that there are plans for a female lead, although the developers haven't done so at this point because the story didn't call for one.

In regard to the game's release date, the report cites that it is likely the game will be pushed back as far as 2019 or 2020 instead of seeing a 2018 release. This is caused by the current success of "Grand Theft Auto Online." Rockstar's priorities at the moment may be directed at providing new content for the online game instead of developing another single player title.

It is important to take into consideration however that there is no official confirmation that Rockstar is indeed working on "Grand Theft Auto VI" at this point, and so these details should still be treated as rumors.
