Over the years, many gamers have played, at one time or another, Rockstar Games' open-world, role-playing franchise "Grand Theft Auto." The current "GTA V" enjoys a solid following due to its popular feature, "Grand Theft Auto Online," and the continuous updates provided the developer. Rockstar Games also included other notable options to the game, such as the Rockstar Editor that lets players record and stitch together their best plays and share them online.

With the continued success of the franchise, the most hardcore of fans cannot help but ask, 'Where is the next one?"

It has long been rumored that "Grand Theft Auto VI" is already being developed, and it is just a matter of time until Rockstar Games decides to release it to the public. However, some observers have checked out the franchise's history and surmised that the next installment would still take at least two years before it is released, with 2018 at the earliest.

According to IBTimes, Rockstar Games is taking longer and longer to release titles under the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise. Although there was just a span of a year between the first three installments in the series, Rockstar Games took at least five years to release "Grand Theft Auto V" after the fourth one. "Grand Theft Auto IV" was released in 2008 while the current one was first launched in 2013. This might be because the developer was thinking of more ways to up the ante for their next installments.

Meanwhile, aside from the release window, speculations also abound on who would be the next big stars to grace "Grand Theft Auto." After Samuel L. Jackson's stint in "GTA: San Andreas" and Ricky Gervais in "GTA IV," it is rumored that Eva Mendez may be the next big star to lend her voice to the franchise.
