The Broncos have not looked their slick selves over the opening two months of this season, however, despite increasing talk among skeptics about their Super Bowl credentials they come into Week 8 with a perfect 6-0 record.

However, today should provide a clear indication about just how strong their challenge for the title may be this year. They face a Packers team that oppositely have impressed hugely and are being mentioned as clear contenders this season.

But the Broncos also have the winning habit, and that is a dangerous thing for opposition teams. Whether the Packers juggernaut can continue its winning run remains to be seen, but quarterback Peyton Manning and his team will be doing all they can to bring Green Bay back down to earth and inflict their first loss of the season.

Defensive end Antonio Smith has said ahead of the game: "You've got two good defenses and two great quarterbacks. Our job is to stop their quarterback. Their job is going to be to stop ours. It will be a battle of the defenses when you bring it back to the beginning."

Manning has had a hard time in recent games and has not looked like the player in the past few seasons we've got accustomed to seeing. Over his last three games he has gained just two touchdown passes, and suffered seven interceptions. He has thrown for 300 yards and his passer rating has been below 70.

He has said, "Hey, I want to play better every single week and I promise like all my teammates we're out here working hard, we're trying to get better and we want to do our part. We know we need to play better, especially starting this week against Green Bay. Our defense has their hands full. Green Bay's going to make some plays offensively. We've got to do our part to score some points."

Earlier this week on Thursday Night Football the New England Patriots took on the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. As expected the Patriots continued their winning run, claiming a solid 36-7 win.

The Patriots rarely looked in trouble as they shut down the Dolphins' offense almost entirely to allow them only one score. The result pushed the Patriots to an impressive 7-0, where as the Dolphins dropped below .500 with a 3-4 record, and their season is now looking on the brink.

Tom Brady was once again in top form for the Patriots, throwing for 356 yards and four touchdowns. He helped the Patriots become the first team to reach seven wins this season, and they are increasingly looking a good bet to retain their Super Bowl crown.

Thursday Night was also a big night for the Patriots' Stephen Gostkowski, who broke Adam Vinatieri's franchise record for consecutive field goals. The moment came when he scored from 52 and 36 yards to make it 26 field goals in a row.

Thursday's loss was the first for interim coach Dan Campbell, who had led a short revival for the Dolphins since taking over. In his prior two games in charge the Dolphins had piled on 82 points as they destroyed the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans.
