According to the synopsis for the episode titled "My Next Life," the very first patient that Meredith performed a surgery on will return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. This time, the doctors will find out that the patient named Katie Bryce (Skyler Shaye) has developed a new aneurysm since her first surgery. This could surely bring back a lot of memories for Meredith, since she was still with her late husband Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) and her best friend Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) when she first met Katie.

Meanwhile, April Kepner (Sarah Drew) will contemplate telling her now-ex-husband Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) about her surprise pregnancy.

April and Jackson finalized their divorce during the previous episode titled "Unbreak My Heart." But by the end of the episode, April found out the she is carrying her second child with Jackson.

Drew talked about how April will deal with her new situation in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying that this arc will be featured in the next few episodes of season 12.

"It is the beginning of a much bigger story. We have a lot of story to tell that is all intertwined in this baby and her decision how, when and if to tell Jackson about the pregnancy, and how all of that comes to light," the actress revealed. "The next eight episodes, there's a lot of story that happens. This is really just a jumping-off point."

The upcoming episode will also feature Andrew DeLuca's (Giacomo Gianniotti) reaction when he discovers that his new girlfriend Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) is the daughter of Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.)
