'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 episode 11 spoilers: Flashbacks will reveal Jackson and April's story

Grey's Anatomy - April and JacksonABC

One of the most intriguing romances in "Grey's Anatomy" is that of Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew). According to the offiical synopsis for "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 episode 11, courtesy of Cartermatt, their story will finally be told from beginning to end through the use of flashback sequences.

The synopsis reveals that the episode will showcase how the two doctors met, how they began getting close to each other and how they've eventually gotten into a romantic relationship. However, despite this emphasis on the evolution of their relationship, it will also focus on the progress of one of Jackson's patients.

It is implied that this patient has been one of Jackson's patients ever since he began practicing his profession as a doctor and it is speculated that this patient may have been undergoing years of consecutive treatments. There is also the possibility of this patient's existence being one of the factors that drove Jackson and April together or apart.

According to the IB Times, this patient will be played by Maya Stojan. Stojan is most popular for portraying the character Kara Lynn Palamas on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and Tory Ellis on the series "Castle." Unfortunately, the details regarding her character's condition and form of treatment in "Grey's Anatomy" remains unidentified.

The official promo trailer for the episode does not give much insight regarding the patient but it does give snippets of where Jackson and April's relationship stands now. Scenes in the trailer indicate that the couple will begin facing the reality of their impending divorce, with April finally asking Jackson when he finally figured that they were over.

Not all of the episode will be dedicated to this couple as it is also stated by Cartermatt that Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) will be discovering more about herself while the ties between Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson) will also be explored.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 episode 11 airs this Feb. 25.
