Fans just can't wait for "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 to return to the small screen. While the waiting game endures, viewers would love to know that in the latter half of the season, they will get to see more of the handsome Dr. Andrew DeLuca.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, actor Giacomo Gianniotti, who played the character introduced early on in the current season, was promoted to series regular. That being said, Andrew will be around more regularly to heat things up in Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital especially his romance with Maggie.

Gianniotti is the third actor to be upped as series regular in "Greys Anatomy" season 12. Martin Henderson, who plays newcomer doctor Nathan Riggs, is a series regular after his consistent appearances in the last few episodes of the first half of the season.

Even with a short amount of time, Nathan has already fueled Sloan a bit of a family drama involving Owen, who isn't very fond of having him around. Meanwhile, Jason George is also a series regular as a Grey resident doctor Ben and Bailey's husband.

On the other hand, fans are getting anxious about Meredith's future in "Grey's Anatomy" season 12. In a promo for TGIT, a lineup that makes up the shows created by Shonda Rhimes, it was shown that Meredith was in grave danger.

Media outlets are reporting that when the show returns, Meredith will be shot. In the video, Meredith can be seen lying on the floor, with another person, possibly a doctor, next to her who looks lifeless.

Meredith, on the other hand, looked like she was in great pain. She had blood on her hands and a bit more on her face. The next shot saw her being revived in the operating room but it does not look like she is in great shape.

It is now believed that the return of "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 will see Meredith holding on for dear life. After all, Rhimes has already said that the midseason premiere "The Sound of Silence" will be "extraordinary and very, very powerful."
