'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 spoilers: Catherine and Richard's relationship gets serious
Dr. Catherine Avery (Debbie Allen) and Dr. Richard Webber's (James Pickens Jr.) romance will be hotter than ever when the ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" returns for season 12.
Variety reports that the upcoming installment will be "going back to its roots," with everyone sleeping left and right during breaks. The series, which will pick up three months after the finale, will be a throwback to the beginning of the series, which dwelled more on medical doctors and their sexual adventures in the on-call rooms.
Romance is certainly in the air, as even "senior" doctors Catherine and Richard will purportedly get their share of hot and sexy loving in season 12. In an interview with Variety, Allen said that her character and her new husband will be setting the screen on fire.
"We'll just say that we are giving new life to sexy over 50. We have a very hot relationship. Richard has got her busy," the actress said.
Aside from the newlyweds, other lovebirds will also be bringing their A-game into the series. It was previously reported that Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington) are still playing sweet music together. They even got their first official place together. Jo has also finally told him that she loves him.
Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), although still apart, are taking the mature way in dealing with their relationship. They will be focusing more on their friendship, which is better than nothing at all. As for Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone), the two will reportedly play hooky a lot of times, while still trying to explore the "friends with benefits" path.
In fact, it appears that April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) will be the only couple still on the rocks for season 12. Last season, as reported earlier, the death of their son put a major dent in their relationship. April had decided she wanted to re-join the army, while Jackson gave her the ultimatum that once she left, he would not wait for her.
"Grey's Anatomy" returns Thursday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
