It looks like Maggie (Kelly McCreary) is finally ditching her misgivings in having an intern for a boyfriend when the hit ABC series "Grey's Anatomy" returns for the second half of season 12.

With Giacomo Gianniotti, who plays Andrew, being promoted as series regular, viewers can expect that things will turn serious between his character and Maggie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the newbie has graduated from being a recurring character in the medical drama and his crazy chemistry with McCreary was the reason. Andrew is one of the interns on the Grey Sloan's operating room and he made his mark by romancing one of the hospital's most eligible bachelorette.

Maggie has been known to scare away from serious relationships. She is also very conscious of her reputation as the Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Being in a relationship with a lowly intern is one of the things she wishes to be kept private. But now that Andrew is in for the long haul, it looks like Maggie will be casting her doubts to the wind and will take the plunge. Last midseason finale, the two finally confessed that they have feelings for each other. They also agreed, though, that they have to keep things professional while at work.

Meanwhile, the promo for the upcoming midseason premiere shows Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) covered in blood and lying on the hospital floor. Also near her is a colleague, who is also looking worse for wear. The next scene cuts to the doctor wearing an oxygen mask, with bloodshot eyes and nasty-looking lacerations on the face. Although the details are scarce, it is safe to assume that something very bad happened at the hospital. Clues point out to an explosion, as nothing short of a blast could cause the injuries Meredith has.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 will return on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
