'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 spoilers: Arizona falls in love again

Arizona and Callie in "Grey's Anatomy" ABC

Callie (Sara Ramirez) may not be around anymore in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, but Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) won't stay single for long.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes has revealed that Arizona will meet somebody new in the next season, something that the EP is wound up about.

"I'm very excited to introduce a love interest for [Arizona] and to get to tell a story with her that lets her be who she is, and to see who she is post the relationships that she's had," ," Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly.

"I want to do it organically and I want the audience to be rooting for it. We're going to have fun with it," she went on to say, promising that Arizona will be off to fresh new start in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.

Rhimes did not get into details as to who Arizona will get together with in the new season, but she said that she won't just "stick two people together," which suggest that fans will watch her indeed fall in love all over again.

It has been a tough journey for Arizona all in all. After becoming estranged from her now-ex partner and nearly losing custody of their daughter Sofia.

Speaking of which, the fact that she has a child now and is starting new are something that she will consider in entering a new relationship.

However, Arizona will not immediately part of the action in the new season. It has been announced that she won't appear in the first couple of episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.

"Jessica was very, very delightfully pregnant at the end of last year, and so she's not in the first two episodes — which everybody brace yourselves for — because she's taking a little bit of time off for kids, but then she's back," Rhimes explained.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 premieres Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
