"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will not return to the small screen until next year. When it returns, however, the show will reveal what is in store for Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington).

The latter finally came clean to his former beau that she is married to an abusive man who will hunt her the second her testifying to Alex's case is made public.

This has Alex considering to take the plea, which will mean two years in prison for him. However, this might not have to happen in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 should DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) decide to drop the charges.

He will not do this for Alex, but for Jo, who he developed romantic feelings for. There are speculations that DeLuca's feelings for Jo will push him to let Alex off the hook in order to keep her safe.

Testifying, which Jo appears to be very much willing to do as seen in the "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 winter finale, will force her to run away again.

Neither Alex nor DeLuca would want that, and so, it is possible that the latter dropping the whole thing will end this. Should this be the case, it won't be a surprise if the former intern's feelings for Jo will come out.

At the moment, Jo is too stressed to even notice that DeLuca is already falling for her. This will also be the case in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 unless he decides to drop the charges.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about DeLuca's feelings for her character, Luddington said that "I think she feels in the midst of a tornado, there is so much spinning around her head that she's not picking up on any feelings."

"I think she's just happy to have a friend. Even if she had a question about it, I think she'd set it aside. That would complicate things and right now she's craving simplicity," she went on to say.

As for her husband appearing in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 or at some point in the series, the actress said she does not know yet, but considering how much he affected Jo, Luddington believes it is only right for him to show up at some point and have Jo face him once and for all.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 returns on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
