'Greys Anatomy' season 13 spoilers: Leah is back, but is Alex about to depart?

Leah Murphy is backABC

A familiar face is back at Grey-Sloan Memorial but it seems like the new arrival will be causing a lot of friction.

A synopsis of episode 6 read, "Catherine pressures Bailey to make a decision about Alex. Meanwhile, Amelia deals with a challenging ER case on an already difficult day; and a familiar face makes a return appearance at the hospital, surprising several of the doctors."

This has led to speculation that Bailey (Chandra Wilson) may be forced to let go of Alex (Justin Chambers) after the incident with Deluca (Giacomo Gianniotti). Catherine (Debbie Allen) has never been a fan of Alex and wants him out, but Bailey is not so sure that Alex should be fired.

Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) — who is still dealing with the disappointment of finding out that she is not pregnant after telling Owen (Kevin McKidd) that she is — will also be faced with a medical challenge.

It has been reported that actress Tessa Ferrer will be returning to the cast to reprise her role as Leah Murphy. With earlier reports hinting that Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) will be introduced to a new love interest, fans immediately saw Leah's return as a sign that she may be rekindling her brief relationship with the Pediatrics resident, IBTimes reported.

In the promo released for the episode, Arizona raises her objections to Dr. Webber (James Pickens Jr.) about rehiring Leah, and Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) also share the cons of hiring her back. In an awkward fashion, Leah catches the end of the conversation where she was described as "almost brought the hospital down with harassment lawsuits and complaints."

Aside from Ferrer, there are also talks that negotiations are under way to get Katherine Heigl back on the show.

The actress voluntarily left the series in 2010, but it has been speculated that her character's return could make sense now since her ex-husband Alex has been going through a lot lately, iTechPost reported.

"Grey's Anatomy" airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
