"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 came full circle in just half a season as it focused on Alex's (Justin Chambers) currently very troublesome situation. Last night's episode had one of the original members of the show accepting a plea deal which will have him serve two years in jail after beating fellow doctor Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) to a pulp.

The last nail in Alex's coffin ironically came from Jo (Camilla Luddington) who came clean about still being married and subsequently hinting that she is leaving town immediately. By the end of the episode, that did seem to be the case as she was seen leaving the hospital with a big bag.

"I'm married to a guy who almost beat me to death. I can't divorce him because I ran away from him," Jo told Alex in the confines of an elevator in the hospital. "Jo Wilson isn't my real name. That's why I couldn't marry you. That's how this whole thing started."

Obviously, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) opposed Alex's decision and tried to knock back some sense into him. However, his mind was quite made up as he entered the courthouse. Right now, the only thing up in the air is whether he'll enter the penitentiary to complete his sentence or not.

Meanwhile, it's not just Alex and Jo who are having a hard time. The narrative for newlyweds Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) was also left hanging as the latter left her husband. The two have had marital problems for quite a while now mostly due to Amelia's trauma of losing a baby. She, however, was kind of unsure how to bring up the conversation, which in turn, made Owen feel isolated.

As to whether this is the end for the Hunts, McKidd cannot exactly say when he was asked by Variety.

"Owen gives her space for a little while, as he should, but he runs out of patience and tries to track her down and wants to talk to her. He is deeply concerned, he really loves her, but he's not an idiot — she was almost a runaway bride at his wedding and he had to convince her," he said, hinting at what lies ahead for his character and his wife.

To make matters complicated, this particular issue about having kids is already an existing wound for Owen given that Cristina (Sandra Oh) was also quite adamant about not wanting kids.

"It will be very much in Owen's mind because it's such an echo of what happened with him and Cristina. I don't know if we'll have flashbacks, I don't know what [creator] Shonda [Rhimes] is planning, but I'd love that," the actor added, referring to dealing with the same heartbreak twice.

"Grey's Anatomy" is taking its mandatory midseason hiatus and will be back for new episodes on Jan. 18, 2017, on ABC.
