In the next episode of "Grey's Anatomy," Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) prepares to go for surgery to get the brain tumor out of her head.

The trailer for the upcoming installment titled "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" was released recently and showed Shepherd in a patient's garment cutting off the hair on the side of her head. This is in preparation for the surgery she will be undergoing to remove the brain tumor which was just recently discovered. As Shepherd shaves the area of her head in the bathroom, Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) stands outside with a concerned look.

In the next scene, Shepherd sits up on her hospital bed with her medical colleagues standing around her and wishing her the best. "If I make it through ... if I die," she says bravely. However, Grey cuts her off and says, "You are not going to die." They give each other caring looks as the others around her including Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Dr. Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) look on with concern.

In the last episode, only a few doctors knew about Shepherd's unfortunate medical condition including Andrew, her sister Dr. Carina DeLuca (Stefania Spampinato), and Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw). However, she finally revealed her plight to Hunt whom she was romantically involved with in past seasons.

When Shepherd told Hunt that she had something important to tell him, he noticed the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of a brain on the wall of the medical room. He also noticed a brain tumor and immediately asked who the patient was who had it. When Shepherd gave him a sad and gloomy look, he knew at once that it was her.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 14 episode 4 will air on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
