"Grey's Anatomy's" universe will soon be expanded with a spin-off series that centers on a group of firefighters. Actor Alberto Frezza from "Dead of Summer" has been cast in the final series regular role for the upcoming show.

Frezza will be playing the role of a police officer named Ryan and will act opposite Jaina Lee Ortiz of "Rosewood." Aside from that, little is known about the character.

The spin-off series is set in Seattle, and is being written by Stacy McKee, who is the executive producer and co-showrunner for "Grey's Anatomy."

The new show revolves around the lives of the brave men and women of the firehouse who are willing to risk their lives in the line of duty. The narrative of the show will include not just their professional duties but their personal lives as well.

Frezza and Ortiz will be joined by fellow cast members Miguel Sandoval, Jay Hayden, Grey Damon, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre, and Barrett Doss.

Frezza previously appeared in the short-lived series "Dead of Summer" as Deputy Garrett Sykes. He also appeared as a guest star in an episode of "Criminal Minds" earlier this year.

A familiar face will be joining the series, as Jason George leaves "Grey's Anatomy" behind to star in the spin-off show. The upcoming series is expected to be introduced in an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" this fall.

Network ABC officially ordered the series in May, but until now, the official title of the show has not been revealed. While many details of the spin-off show still remain secret, fans will be confident that it would most likely benefit from the carefully woven universe of "Grey's Anatomy," which has been one of the most successful drama shows on television. It is currently on its 14th season and continues to be a hit.
