'Grimm' season 5 spoilers: Nick focuses more on his child in new episodes

NBC

"Grimm" season 4 did not end well for Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) as he lost his mother due to his girlfriend Juliette's betrayal, he then lost Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) when she was shot by Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni), and then he learned that he has a child with his nemesis Adalind Schade (Claire Coffee). That child will now be his main priority in season 5.

During the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, Giuntoli told the crowd, "He lost his girlfriend, he lost his mom ... and the baby is kind of the reason for him to keep going."

He also explained that he will experience some "bizarre" co-parenting alongside Adalind, which forces them into an awkward relationship.

Claire Coffee echoed these sentiments when she explained, "This baby is all she's got in the world. She's lost her powers, again, but I think this time the focus will be the baby and finding a job. She's a lawyer — I assume a very capable lawyer. She'll scour Craigslist for a few episodes."

This doesn't mean there won't be anything else going on in season 5, which will still have plenty of action and the supernatural.

Giuntoli promised that Nick will exact vengeance for all the things done to him. The panel confirmed that season 5 would harken back to the mythology of season 1, which means the royals won't be much of a presence in season 5. According to TVLine, the main plotline involving the Royals has been dealt with.

Season 5 is also being set up as a form of soft reboot for the "Grimm" and it might mean that Nick's child might play a big role in this direction. It is possible that Nick and Adalind's child might become the new main character or could start his or her own spin-off sometime in the future.

"Grimm" season 5 will return this Oct. 30 with its premiere episode, "The Grimm Identity," kicking things off.
