Rockstar Games did not make any announcements regarding "Grand Theft Auto VI" during the E3, the San Diego Comic Con or the more recent Gamescom event. Despite this, rumors are running rampant about the game's setting, its features and when the title might officially launch.

According to Ecumenical News, one of the reasons why the game is taking longer to develop and release is because the developers might be working to integrate full VR compatibility. "Grand Theft Auto V" already introduced a first-person mode into the series and this makes it easier to integrate VR gameplay for full player immersion.

"Grand Theft Auto VI" is likely going to release for PC, PS4 and the Xbox One and each one uses a different VR headset. This means the developers will need to spend more time to make sure the game runs on all the VR headsets it is expected to be played on.

This means it will need to run whether it's being played with the Playstation VR, the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive. Making sure that it runs smoothly on all three will require more development time and beta testing which may explain how and why it has not been announced yet.

As far as the game's setting goes, a report from Parent Herald has pointed out that a popular theory is that "Grand Theft Auto VI" will be set in Moscow. This will not be the first game set outside the United States, as there was a "Grand Theft Auto: London," and the new setting may allow for a plethora of new concepts like Russian weapons.

Russian mobsters and their special weapons have been seen in the series before, particularly in "Grand Theft Auto IV," which makes it possible that the next game in the series will move out of the US and into Russian territory. Rockstar has not confirmed nor denied any of these rumors however and they should still be taken with precaution.
