With the new sequel in development, speculations suggest that the next "Grand Theft Auto" will be playable in virtual reality.

According to Neurogadget, since it can be expected that the next installment, "GTA 6," will come out in 2017 at the earliest, then developer Rockstar Games may intend for the next franchise game to be playable in VR. Virtual reality gaming is becoming a cornerstone in the industry, with some third-party tech makers like HTC and Oculus coming out with their top-tier VR headsets, while industry players like Sony and Microsoft hinting that their next console follow-ups will be VR-capable.

However, the industry follower said that if Rockstar Games decides to make "GTA 6" supported in VR, then the studio will have to address some known issues. Being a fledgling industry, VR gaming has its share of glitches, with motion sickness being one of them. In addition, Rockstar Games will also need to fine-tune the title for VR gaming, which may also translate to longer development, so "GTA 6" will have to release much later.

Meanwhile, although Rockstar Games has yet to come out with specifics for the game, speculations and supposed leaks have already come out for "GTA 6." According to rumors, aside from VR gaming, the studio is targeting big changes and improvements with the next installment in the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise. Rumored gameplay and design changes include a bigger map, and most likely a combination of two or more locations in previous "GTA" games; the first-ever female protagonist; and improved multiplayer feature.

However, since Rockstar Games has not confirmed "GTA 6" yet, most fans are saying that the game will not be released anytime soon. Rumors suggest that instead of the next installment in the "GTA" franchise, the studio is more likely to focus first on expanding another title into a big-name series, as reports of "Red Dead Redemption 2" are making their rounds online.
