The "Grand Theft Auto" franchise has been successful with every new title added since the release of the first game in 1997. With "GTA V" already done and minimal updates happening on its online mode, many fans cannot help but wait for the possible "GTA 6". However, it may take a few more years before then.

According to The Inquisitr, assuming that publisher Rockstar Games is indeed working on the latest "GTA" title, the earliest that fans can expect it to come out would be in 2020. This estimate is much later than the original 2018 projection, which was based on the five-year gap between "GTA" releases and the fact that "GTA V" came out last 2013.

The news outlet suggests that since the company is already releasing "Red Dead Redemption 2" next year, fans should not expect "GTA 6" in the same year. Considering the expected changes and updates to the upcoming "GTA" title, this seems like a reasonable delay.

As reported by TAJ, one of the possible additions to "GTA 6" would be augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) features. Aside from the lengthy development time needed to incorporate these updates, the outlet also noted that Rockstar Games would need an influx of cash to fund the development.

For now, fans have resorted to sharing their expectations for the latest title in the franchise. Some expect to see a female protagonist, which might bring exciting changes, especially since every "GTA" title has only had a male protagonist. Others have pointed out the lack of decent hand-to-hand combat options.

Currently, "GTA V" only features basic fighting features, where more focus has been given to weaponry. As per GamingBolt, the game would benefit from a more diverse array of fighting styles. Compared to the guns in the game, the melee is underdeveloped and awkward.

That said, Rockstar Games has yet to release any official announcements regarding "GTA 6," so fans should take the rumors with a grain of salt.
